if you're repainting then you just need to use some wet and dry to give the new paint a good key.

nope - trying to get back to natural carbon......
Sand the paint off then apply a coat of West or SP Epoxy. But if you're expecting nice woven carbon fibre underneath the paint you may be disappointed.

Someone posted a link to a carbon frame repair place recently.
In their FAQS they said you can paint a carbon frame, but you can't strip the paint as it will have penetrated the weave so it would always show.
It may be possible if the forks were originally clear coated and then painted later, as you would just need to get back to the clear coat. Or for giggles, you could try carbon effect sticky stuff if the legs are straight and not curvy. Could hide signs of damage later though.
