I jumped on the turbo trainer at 6am this morning to start cycling no where very fast. The turbo trainer is in the conservatory on the other side of the house from the master bedroom. After a few minutes my better half informed that it was making a "bloody racket, and waking the whole street up" which is understandable.
It is a mag wheel version with an old slick tyre on the back. Do I really need to clear space in the garage (too much work) to move the torture device in there to maintain domestic harmony?
why not go out for a ride?
Sorry training plan with specific interval HR zones says no.
your last response removes all sympathy for me... just get out and ride.
those proper tyres are a lot quieter in my (very limited) experience
you could also stand it on a mat of some sort (camping mat maybe ?)
you could stop shouting/squealing while doing it
Well it's too noisey where it is, so I guess the answer is "yes"?
you need to cut down o the vibrations.
tyre will help but also i'd imagine it's on a solid floor?
you need to get some sound insulation to isolate it from the floor - rubber type ideally. (i may have some.....)
Yeah, it is on a concrete floor (with lino). I will try an on old exercise matt underneath the trainer. Cheers.
Play Really loud rock music
pump the tyre up to a million psi?! I have my trainer tyre at 120psi, and that reduces the noise a lot even over 100psi
