Evening all,

I have an old Wicked Fat Chance which I'm thinking about selling... Reason being I'm looking to bring in some cash to fund another purchase, a project I have in my head at the moment.
I don't want to sell it but at the same time I know deep down I just don't use it. I have an old Yeti ASX and an On One SS which I ride - one of which will also be going although I haven't decided which yet?
Anyhow, the Fat isn't getting used, I'm getting older and life is passing me by. I would like to raise the cash for the next project before that passes me by too so needs must.

But, would I be better to split the bike down? Or sell as it is?
I have a proper stem for it btw - that was to help my back 😉

This is said bike, I'd appreciate any advice

You'll get more cash in terms of the net money from selling it in bits (i.e. splitting), but once you've factored in the cost and hassle of eBay/postage it's difficult to say whether splitting is a better option.

My guess is that retro-fans will like the frame and perhaps some of the parts, but won't like the wheels 😉

yeah, I don't think I can be bothered with the hassle of stripping everything down, packaging it all up, waiting on bits to sell, traipsing down to the post office etc

And then I have the problem that I have no idea of it's value? It won't be much, it's not a Yo Eddy, but hopefully worth a couple hundred

I think I ad somewhere that they are making these again? You might be able to jump on the back of that......

Cracking bike, btw.....

You obviously know about retrobike? Put the same question on there and let them give you some advice......or some sound offers!

Splitting would undoubtably yield better results. Those PACE Forks would fetch a good price as too would those Spinergy wheels, most of the high end race bikes of that era were sporting those and have become a bit of niche product on sites like RetroBike.
Then the frame itself will be worth a few quid to the right buyer.

Definitely splitting or whole to someone who would split it. Its quite an eclectic build so not exactly ideal for selling whole.

EDIT: definitely worth more than a couple of hundred. Ball park would be 150-200 for the frame, 50-100 for the forks, and 200+ for the wheels. If all are working and not cracked/rusted. Admittedly its been a while since I priced such stuff.

This. Its very nice and worth a bit too. You will get a few silly offers before you realise what it is worth.

Retro market has stalled quite a bit, a few years back prices were very high but in my experience has fallen back quite a bit. I'd split as you have three desirable bits that would make more than selling complete - frame, forks and wheels. You may end up with a lot of stuff unsold but you'll raise more money IMHO.

Fat chance always popular.

As others have said, the value is in the frame, fork and wheels as far as I can see from the photo and they are each worth far more individually than collectively.

I don't think the rest looks to be anything special at all, even on retrobike -unless there is something good hiding back there or in exemplary condition (brakes, rear mech).
