Daughter has a basketball tournament this coming weekend, thought I could sneak a quick ride on Saturday

Any recommendations? Am IO right in thinking Wharncliffe is the place to go to?

Where is the tournament based? Do you want to ride or drive out? Wharny is one option but it's quite far out of town and you're spoiled for other choices really.

The tournament is at the All Saints sport Centre (not sure where we are staying still looking into options) ride out would be great but drive if not too far is also an option

Wrong side of town for an easy ride out. I'd probably park at the Norfolk Arms on Ringinglow Road and do a big, scenic loop from there. Or go to Wharny if you want gnarly stuff.

Wharncliffe might be a bit tricky to find your way around unless you're with someone who knows it. Second the suggestion for Norfolk arms, taking in Stanage/Burbage/Blackamoor. Otherwise you could start at The Grouse and ride around Totley Moor, Curbar and Froggatt.

Thanks Shark, looking at Trailforks is the Devil's Elbow / Lady Cannning's stuff/area you are referring to?

Yeah it is, that whole area is packed. Devil's Elbow is as tricky as it gets around there. I'd head off towards Stanage and Burbage if I was on my own.

As mentioned finding trails at Wharny is hard unless you know it, if you've never been it may well be a wasted trip.
From the venue you mention, ride out, through the parks from endcliffe, couple of laps of lady cannings, down in to blacka, back through Dore and home. Doable in 3 hours and a nice loop with no car.
