After 10 years of use my Shimano shoes have given up the ghost so I’m in the market for a new pair. Two bolt mtb shoes, anyone seen any good deals? Tia.

anyone tried the Carnac shoes from Planet X? Wondered what they were like and how ther size up? They do a grit model for £60 that look quite nice but I’ve not used Carnac before.

@oopnorth tried some Carnac ones recently - the gravel ones.
I think he said they sized up a bit small & cramped in the toe box.

I just got some Pearl Izumi road spd shoes from Freewheel (but they are 2 & 3-bolt compatible).
No good for MTB but reduced from £120 to £30 - only size 41 though.
They had lots of other shoes though so worth a look on their website.

Planet X shoes:
The Road shoes used to be exactly the same as the FLR fancy carbon ones, exactly the same:
Mine have been FLRhave lasted years, and are super comfy (with fancy insoles) despite being super stiff.
So if they have ‘etop’ boa type things I’d say they are made in a decent factory, and worth a punt.

That's right, definitely size up if you are thinking of getting them, they have almost like a stunted toe box on them, so felt cramped. At least that was the case for me.

What size are you? Interested in a pair of hardly used Shimano XC5 in 42?

Bucko, yes I could be interested in those. How do they size up. Ideally I’m a 7.5 but I always size up so those should be ok.
Any chance of a couple of photos please?
Think you should be able to private message me. Cheers.

The dhb mtb ones are ok, have a pair for commuting and cx and just bought another pair as thirty five quid seemed a bargain.

Got a pair of those dhb in the spares box from last autumn, but not used them yet, still using my 15 year old Shimanos that are on their last legs.

I just bought these Northwave shoes from Bikester. I'm a 43 in 'normal' shoes but the 44 suited me. I bought 43 and 44 cos it's free returns.
