I bought an edge 810 and want to update the firmware
However, when I try to download the garmin webloader or communicator plugin I get multiple error messages saying 'XML missing' and then 'GarminInstaller has stopped working'
Any ideas please?
What browser are you using and what OS on the computer?
OS is Windows 7
Have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome (all latest versions I think)
Communicator etc working okay on my Windows laptop and OSX at the moment.
Worth asking the Garmin support people just incase it's a fault with the version your downloading?
Try downloading from here instead of the live install type setup:

Thanks somouk
In case anyone else has this problem I managed to install a legacy version of webloader from here:

And then refused update and it worked (incredibly)
I've just read this after having problems updating a car satnav. I wonder if Garmin are having a bad day. It worked ok finally, but provoked much bad language.
Same here. The garmin software/website/communicator etc is rubbish, especially after having an android phone where everything just works.
Sunday afternoon, summer is coming, time to clean the car and update the satnav?
Garmin communicator was replaced with Garmin express a few weeks ago.

Just tried that on my Edge 305 and it's device not supported so I guess that is just for the sat navs.
Works on my edge 810, and my forerunner 910xt, so guess it may be older devices it isn't compatible with.
