narrowed it down to one of these two but wondered if I'm missing something - cheapest I can find is the Direto at £600

I would wait until next month, when the kickr core and tacx flux 2 have been released, then there might be some price competition, at the moment as those are due, but not yet in the shops, no one is discounting them they are just displaying rrp. And while the direto was probably top dog at that price point last year, it looks from the early reviews as these have moved the game on a bit.

Direto from Halfords with BC discount? I had stackable vouchers and ended up paying £550 ish for mine.

Elite was out of stock at Halfords when I wanted one. Bought a reconditioned KICKR 1016 for £800 from the Wahoo website. The new Core is definitely worth the wait. Silent and same flywheel as mine. Basically everything the KICKR does for less. The most useful feature of mine is the handle. If you ever want to move it, it’s a godsend!

Ive hated turbos for years, but enjoy riding the KICKR. I prefer my rollers for just riding along stuff, however.

Thanks all, I did see the Core was due but when will it actually be in shops. Might need to peruse DC Rainmaker to see what he thinks.

He thinks it’s a no-brainer. If you don’t need it now, wait. The silence is a big upgrade.

yeah seems so.  That could well be the tipping point for me. Wonder how long I will have to wait.  Need it to train for the 2019 Cape Epic

Err, doesn't the core have a different(/no) handle?

I actually like my turbo to be noisy, feels like I’m doing something.  Have ridden silent ones and really don’t like them.

The core should be in the shops by the end of the month (some shops have the 21st as the available date).
