I know the Mac never used to have any decent mapping software but seems to a few out there now - can anyone help with their favourites for OSX?

All I want to do is be able to import MMO/GPX files, stick them onto OS maps and print them out.

Searched for older threads, no luck.

Ta!

I use OS Getamap, IMO well worth the subscription (I recall I renewed for £15, you can often find offers). I use only gpx so check for mmo. The worst part is it uses Microsoft Silverlight, I hate using anything from that company.

Thanks, have installed and had a go as a trial. So far, the site is extremely slow to redraw after zooming and panning, not something I could use as it stands. Maybe it speeds up if you have a paid service!

Agreed its slow and buggy - that's the Microsoft part !

It does work and the maps are excellent/the originals, I have many saved ones (print as PDF then convert to jpeg via Preview then I use Sketch Book Express to mark up and save-as). Perhaps during your trial you can do the same.

It's quite frustrating as the French equivalent of OS (IGN) have a free service to provide the same.

Routebuddy is good. OS mapping, Satellite views, maintains a route library where you can overlay various routes then join them up.

I use it loads to explore new areas.

I use RouteBuddy - I don't really get on with the route library bit but I suspect I've just never spend the time to work out how it is meant to be used. Mapping bits work well. Printing is not that clever. I still fire up an old version of MemoryMap on a VM to print maps out. (This is something that's meant to be getting better soon).

I think Anquet Maps is another option. I've never used it though.

Not what you really asked for but Ascent is a nice program for logging rides. Oh and Load my Tracks for transferring files to the GPS.

I still use Memory Map running on a XP VM for mapping.

Aidan - does Routebuddy store the OS maps on your PC? I am after a route planning software I can use on my Mac Book that does not require internet connection to view the maps.

I was using Tracklogs on my PC which was great, but have now switched over to a Mac and need a similar software.

Euain - I do not think Anquet maps is available any more for the Mac, only PC, Android or Ipad.

Garmin Basecamp will work on a Mac with OSM maps

I run memory map in a virtual machine. Not as faffy as it sounds.

Thanks for all that folks, will have a look at Route Buddy and maybe persevere with the OS site as it does what I want it to do without having to pay a packet for new mapping - tho being able to run it all locally at a decent clip would attractive.

I'm another one using an ancient version of Memory Map on an equally ancient PC, dream solution would be some way to use all those UK 1:25k maps from MM over on the Mac...

Fair point on virtual machine - I guess what I meant to say was - a Mac mapping app that can open .qct files.
