Hi chaps,

planning a trip to Stiniog next month, have done pretty much all the other Welsh trail centres in the past (north and south) so though may as well tick this off the list.

Taking my El Guapo, 160mm forked. and my brother's taking his Ibis Mojo 150mm.
Read a lot of hype around "having" to wear a full face helmet at Stiniog? Anyone run just a normal trail lid? (Urge Enduro-matic is what I'm running)

Was planning on the blue, red and maybe a black...
Cheers

Hi

It's only the double black where it's mandatory according to the sign up sheet. I rode the Blue, Red and some of the black using an open face.

Are you good looking and have all your own teeth?

Having siad that I minced a fair bit.

You wear a helmet while running?

Well if that's the case, I'd say you definitely want one at Antur. It's rocky as, with quite a few little nooks and crannys to cause the odd OTB if you don't float over the stuff.

If you have it pack it. I'm guessing uplift in which case no worry a out weight and heat. Once you get into the swing of downward runs confidence can exceed ability. ...

I rode there before Christmas. If it's damp it can be slippy. The blue and red are not that dissimilar to a trail centre descent, but perhaps a little bit rockier than some. The black has a few more tricky bits.

I'd say if you've got a full facer you might as well wear it, it's uplift after all so you're not going to sweat to death riding up.

FF for sure as its uplift, its pretty fast and the rocks shredded my single ply tyre third run down. I imagine they would shred faces pretty well too.

There was a lad there when I went who managed to go head first into the stone wall that crosses the red.He was wearing a full face and still managed to put a 2" gash in his forehead!I shudder to think what state he would have been in if he was wearing an xc lid.
There's no minus's to wearing a full face on uplift days.

I rode there with an open lid;

Although if I was on an uplift day I'd consider taking my full-face.

I'd wear my fullface. But if I didn't own one, it'd depend how much of that sort of thing i plan to do in future, I did my first few uplifts with open face and no real worries (fort william dh was maybe a bit daft mind)
