Enough of a difference between the 2 to justify having both?
I have the Anthem, put 130mm forks on it with some decent tyres on for trail duties. But seen a good deal on a trance advanced 27.5 that im tempted by!
I have a Trance 27.5 and say no.
Sell the Anthem, buy the Trance, unless your riding is all XC or pootling.

WTAF. if you'd been referring to the 29er Anthem then fair enough, but to say the 650 is just for xc and pootling is frankly bollocks.
My son is completely allergic to gnarl and yet was quite happy a wide variety of trails in Finale on his Anthem. Fair enough Kill Bill, Cacciatore and the Calizzano Free ride stuff isn't super difficult, but his Anthem certainly wasnt holding him bacl in any way.
The 29er Anthem however would have fully sucked there.
Although in fairness I'd have to admit he only weighs about 40kg so wouldn't need a heavy bike or lots of travel.

Unless you're talking about the model with a 120mm fork, it's still a 110mm bike with a 68 - 69 degree head angle (depending on year) designed for XC - Giant even states that on its website.
To use an analogy - you could ride a fully rigid bike in Megavalanche, but that doesn't mean it's really fit for purpose, or remotely enjoyable.

Yes it’s that one, I know it’s banded as an xc bike but it’s far more capable than that it’s intended hence the question 👍 thanks for the replies
I have a 2017 Anthem 1 (120mm front, 68 degree head angle) and its far more than an xc pootler. Quite capable on any trail centre red run and also fast.
The Trance is definitely more of a safer bet if you are more of a winch and plummet rider.
