as the RMT seem to be weeing right royally on our bonfire at the end of our Easter tour, we are assessing alternative plans. We were supposed to be ending up in Plockton and training it back to Bolton on the 9th but as this is the last day of the strike we may ride to Inverness and get the train on the Saturday.

2 options, one is road only the other is to cut through Glen Fiodhaig along the Meig and down into Muir of Ord

It's landy track as far as the lodge but not sure past there, geopgraph shows a fairly substantial path the rest of the way with maybe a couple of river crossings but has anyone got more direct experience of it?

this is the proposed route

I've only been along as far as the ruins past Glenuaig Lodge. I recall the river crossing to get there (coming out of Coire Beithe) being a bit "iffy" but that was in the dark after a very wet day coming off Maoile Lunndaidh. The track to/from the lodge is certainly very cycle-able and we hared down back to Craig with only a wee Petzl headtorch for illumination.

The track from Scardroy to Glenuaig is used occasionally for a charity walk - "Across Ross". That might throw up a few more google hits 🙂 It would also suggest that it's not too severe a terrain - however some of those wee river crossings could be problematic if it's been raining.

As for other options, don't even bother looking south to Loch Mullardoch.

thanks, i think we'll judge by the weather on the day, it's only a few miles further round the road but i'd rather steer clear

plus we'll have done the Bealach na Ba the day before so may be a bit knackered 😯
