I start tomorrow evening with a train to Penzance that gets me in at 01:35 on Good Friday. Then ten days to make it to the other end of the country. I'm going to call in at The Lizard and Dunnett Head on the way just to get North and South points. I'm not bothered about Corrachadh Mòr because getting West and East points too would mean having to visit Lowestoft 😉
I'll see what off-road I can find, definitely planning on a lot of the WHW and then off-road to Inverness. I've ridden both coasts at the top of Scotland so this time I'm going up the middle through the flow country to Altnaharra.
I finally got round to packing all my kit tonight. This is what ten days of kit looks like.

Solo, unsupported, no accommodation booked ahead. Just a bivvy bag, sleeping mat and sleeping bag.
There's no charity because I get embarrassed asking, and people get embarrassed being asked. Last time I knew someone who did this for charity he got grief from people who weren't putting in any effort that he was doing it for the wrong charity. Well, I'm not knackering myself for that sort of grief. So if you're a charitable sort of person feel free give to a charity of your choice. If you're not, then that's fine too.
No tracking app for this ride due to lack of power. I've gone all 1993 and fitted a wheel magnet and simple cycle computer just to log miles. For full flashback to last time I did this (1993) it should be an Avocet.
Follow on my website or twitter feed. The website should pick up the feed anyway.

Wave at the bloke in the Maglia Rosa if you see him.
Cheers,
Nick
Good luck with the weather.
I've been following this one...
and here is his route http://www.users.waitrose.com/~ianclare/lejogoffroadbymountainbike.htm
You might find some off-road ideas in there.
missed the boat druidh, he's already done it 🙄
🙂 Whoops! It's my age you know!
(I'll blame the migraine......)
Jamie - a bit unexpected eh? I think you can actually see it from the M74 near Moffat.
Tis near Moffat, where there is the old A74, the new M74, and the middle aged A74 which is now a cycle lane. I remember going up the old A74 as a small child.
It will take me a while to add each ride entry, but here's the prelude

Just read your first blog - interesting stuff - look forward to reading more about your trip.
Overnight stops you can plug into Google Earth or into the Google Maps search bar.
100% respect. Some great pics. Well done.
Will read that later, looks good..
Congratulations.
Very curious to know what frame you were using, looks really smart.
It's a Hunter - http://www.huntercycles.com - with swinger dropouts from Black Cat.
You can get them with straight top tubes but that would have felt wrong.
