After just buying some american classic race MTB wheels and some brand new tubless ready racing ralphs I set them up lubed the beads and inflated them with a track pump easy-peasy...

until about 5 minutes later it exploded.. the tyre on the front has been sat there fine. So I thought it must have been a knackered carcass on the original tyre, so I put the new tyre on... 2mins later booom! stans soln everywhere.

The wheel set isn't new but should be OK??? I had the tyres inflated to 40PSI to seat the bead but I went to the recommended pressure limit limit.. not over it

any help? I don't really know what to do.

P.S. tyres are 2.25 Racing Ralph Evo tubeless ready

I'd be tempted to try the tyre from the front wheel on the rear, as you know that is a good fit on the rim. If that blows off the rear rim I would suggest that there is a fault with the rim bead. From my experience with my AC AMs the rim is rather soft and prone to deforming under impact.

You do get duff tyres Somtimes. So much as above
Yes it's a faff but you need to see where to fault lies

My AC Race wheels were a pain as the Rons (evo, tubeless ready, snakeskin, pacestar etc etc) I'd bought wouldn't stretch enough to seat properly, nor would a variety of Maxxis tyres (ranging from tubeless ready to [s]recycled condom[/s] exception).

Their response to my email implied that their wheels could vary in circumference by a few mm, and tight tyres on 'larger' rims could cause problems.

You may have the opposite issue - good luck.

FWIW Spesh and Bonty tyres work fine on mine, try some different makes, and hold off the spunk until they have stayed on overnight ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hey, I did try the tyre from the front on the back and it also went bang... although the tyre on front was sitting at a much lower PSI.

cheers for the info old nick, the only thing I did notice was that the rim strip had scrunched up slightly leaving 15-20cm of rim where one of the tubeless mounting rails (if that makes sense?) exposed, would that be an issue?

out of interest what size tyre where you running? I would have thought 2.25 would give enough flex for it to seat nicely?

I'll have a word with the LBS, see what they think.. as the front wheel needs rebuilding after sheering a couple of nipples.. Its been an expensive weekend haha
