I’m riding, Mrs ColP is walking with the dog somewhere. She’ll be maybe 5 hours.

I’ve downloaded routes off Lakes MTB for Drunken Duck and Loughrigg Fell.

Loughrigg is a fair bit longer so I’m inclined towards that, I’ll still be finished way before her but that’s fine. Which is the better ride. I like fast, singletrack (obviously), technical. Would rather ride from Ambleside town than drive anywhere.

I’m on the Eeb if that changes anything.

Appreciate any tips.

ps.

The Singletrack beer in the Royal Oak was selling very well tonight, they’ll have money to upgrade the servers soon I reckon.

Of the two routes, the Loughrigg Fell one is objectively better (as it should be, there's 4x the climbing and descending on it!). There is only one descent of note in the Drunken Duck one (down towards Elterwater), and a lot of road and flat, fairly boring track.

Even the Loughrigg one isn't exactly brimming with tech, or singletrack though. If you want that you're going to need to go off-piste on Loughrigg Fell itself or head into Grizedale.

Take your waterproof trousers though.

On an eeb, you could head over Troutbeck way and up the Garburn Pass,  then do Nan Bield as well.

Edit: Or head down Garburn and do a lap or two of the HP Plantation loop, that's really good fun techy singletrack.

If you head to Grizedale be aware there are a number of trail closures due to storm damage and you'll end up doing more of a gravel ride as I found out yesterday.

Claife then Iron Keld lunch at Chesters By The River for the win - and back over Loughrigg would be my choice

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Headed out early to Grizedale

Yep. Did the same thing myself. Joined the orange or maybe red near Moor Top, lots of trees down and diversions. Rode to BikeTreks and saw some lovely bikes. Rode up to hit the black, meh, rode down the road to Bogle Crag, up the fireroad for a bit, found some cheeky steep stuff back down. Rode a lot of gravel back to Ambleside.

Still, any time on a bike is good! 😊

Which bits are shut out of interest?

Hp Plantation is currently chunky as chuff having being felled and filled with enormous boulders, last time I rode I swore not to ride it for a while. Let us know how much you enjoy the hike a bike up to Nan Bield with your ebike.
