Don't think I've seen another thread soooo, who's doing what this year? Or given it's March already what have you done?

Southern XC kicks off this weekend. Sadly only a 4 event series with the not unexpected loss of the IOW round. I'm entered in Sport again with eldest in U14s. Wife has also decided to give at least round 1 a go. Should be able to make 3 of the 4 and hopefully a couple of national events (those these effectively take the whole weekend if daughter races).

Both children have been competing in the various Gorrick races, they're talking about a summer evening series this year.

ooh would be game for that - I'm about 20 mins from all the well used gorrick venues

managed one gorrick winter race (actually the december one), the others seem to have clashed with me being away, seeing the weather I wasn't too disappointed.

but mainly...  I'm doing the BC bike race in May. Woefully underprepared currently.

Did the gorrick brass monkeys but was sadly ill for the Highlands farm event. I was looking forward to this weekends Southern xc but am injured so can't race.

There are rumours that the Cannock national event will have a different course to usual which could be fun!

It was also good to see Focus Rides running some xc races near Sherwood pines. The women's races only being 45 mins put off my wife though, so we didn't go to any - generally slogging down the M1 to gorrick instead. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has did one!

Hamsterley TT is this weekend, Kielder TT is 26 April - I'm entered for both and looking forward to them. I'm hoping the current nice weather lasts a few more days!

Cannock national is on the full commonwealth games course from a couple of years back apparently.
Did all the focus events over winter, they were all well run and a good blast for an hour, no hills as it was in Nottinghamshire but did the best with what’s there. Think there’s a few summer events happening there too

If I did bucket lists for xc racing, BC would be on it! 😎

I had to miss all the brass monkeys this time around so looking forward to the first round of the southerns this weekend. I'm under prepared and at the wrong end of my age group so keeping an open mind on my performance.

Hopefully will be able to do all 4 rounds of the southerns and a couple of nationals, especially Pippingford as its local to myself.

SSUK is in the Cotswolds in September.

I've also got Glentress 7 in May, and 10 Under the Ben in June (must enter that, hope it's not sold out!)

I also did the Focus events - great racing on a flat course.

I'm going to try and get all the NE XCMTB races done this year as well :

It's slim pickings AFAIK. Midweek MTB madness runs a series - fun events on Weds evenings. Grassroots style but plenty of strong riders show up - info on their facebook page. Crank-it cycling also run some races N of England more broadly. Looks like they had to cancel one just this weekend gone at Lee Quarry due to lack of numbers.

Lovely day in the sun at Matterley yesterday and the first time the entire family has raced on one day. Also the first season open where I didn't have a cold! Happy with my 17th in sport and that I was closing those ahead in the last laps which suggests fitness doing ok. Eldest was happy with her 4 as she thought she raced well (just got a bit stuck in the lap 1 queue in the single track). Youngest I was convinced was going to bail out but at the last minute joined the grid and completed the whole race, very happy as she was very nervous and managed to overcome her fear. Wife had a great debut race taking a podium in Novice.
