6ft 3.

Maybe wanting to take the train a bit more.

You'll definitely want the extended seatpost (free option to switch to it if you're buying new) and probably the H bars, M bars if you prefer your hands a bit lower. Perfectly doable though.

Yeah you'll be fine on the M bar, but you'll definitely want the long seat post

no.

I'm 6' and ride the extended seatpost with a few cm of the height setting insert to pull it down a bit; the standard seatpost was just slightly too short for me.

And if the extended isn't long enough they then do a telescopic one.

https://www.cyclesurgery.com/p/brompton-seatpost-telescopic-R8414229.html?channable=e75528.Ujg0MTQyMjktMTAxMA&colour=124&gclid=Cj0KCQjwp5_qBRDBARIsANxdcikNGXeN8DgBOwVHZqLAlAJB_8VAqBPO_WgDH58HmPxfTXOrgxhY6GwaApYGEALw_wcB

Mine is M-bars, and it's quite upright, so even for a taller person with a longer seatpost, you won't have a massive difference from seat height to bar height

As above. Long post and M bar.

Oh, and Schwalbes kept at high pressure.

Mudguards goes without saying.

Fine here with S bars and a tweaky stem thing.

I read this thread reading 'am I too tall for a Bronson' and I was wondering what the hell "S" bars were.

Then I realised, slowly! thank you STW, you made my day!!

6ft 3 and s bars but I need a bit more reach. Extended seat post ok.

I 've persevered with the reach issue for years but I only go 5 miles max. Next b will be a h3 or 6, but at 1k I just keep putting it off.

Probably the only bike I have ever had that appreciated.

Certainly not. I'm 6'4" with a 37" in seam. You will probably need the telescopic seat post and personally I went for the H bars because of a lack of flexibility, but other than that, it fits fine.
Brommie with H bars

It's a strange thing. I don't really think of myself as tall, somehow my mental image of myself never really caught up when I grew quickly as a teenager, but on this thread I'm feeling decidedly average.

Thanks all for the helpful responses. I'll be back for help choosing a model in due course!

6' 5" and fine for me and use Brompton's daily for a decade now inc. touring.

I favour S stem for more reach, telescopic seat post, turn saddle clip around and a nice little riser bar. This is the arrangement on my current Brompton:

Exciting times. I have a new job!

So, something like this? (learning fast about all the different options)
Local to me so pick-up is easy. 3 speed, mudguards, are those M bars?, is that a long seat post?
Front bag would be good - is that a mounting block?

Looks like an old M3L with Std seatpost. With luggage block and bag.

For your height I would go for an S and retro fit riser bars (I am 6'2" and have an S2L with 620mm 50mm risers) or an H type.
You will very probably need the telescopic seatpost - depends how leggy you are?
There is an excellent thread on Bromptons on the LFGSS forum - worth asking on there for good advice.

Personally I would not buy a Brompton from Ebay as they tend to go for a high premium. I would buy off the forums, gumtree or facebook. I got my mint S2L raw off here from a really nice chap I had traded with before for £600.

EDIT Tallsam kindly posted this on the LFGSS thread

Be very careful and do your homework before planning a handlebar swap.
Depending on what you are changing from and to can mean a different stem, cables and even brake levers.
I bought off ebay. Check the prices as people go mad for oldish 'needs a bit of attention' sales while the nearly new are not too much more. Collection only go cheaper and saw some really good spec ones sell for less than posted ones.
I am still at the big grin stage and not had so much fun riding a bike for ages.

All great advice again thanks.

I've been stung before on gumtree with a tandem with cracked headtube so not sure it's any better than ebay really. However, this is also local. Extended seatpost but no front block thing.

I'm not really in a hurry but trying to get a feel for the market/product.

Yep at your height H or S type with telescopic seatpost (which can buy after).

If change handlebars dont need to worry about changing stem and brake levers. May need to change cables - I didnt have to though.

I'm 6'3, hated S bars, way too low. I have a telescopic seatpost, I use M bars

Just go for a test ride, it's an easy fix to work out which one you like

Yeah agreed Ben. S-type flat bars were too low for me, but the s-type stem is higher and longer, as in slightly more forward, so with riser bars its a better fit overall.
