lol no

flites have broken there as long as they have been around , never noticed it has alot of give in that area ? well the plastic can only take it for so long ! i had a broken one on my commuter for ages - still comfy

got 1 on my SS and one on my roady ,

Be warned new design (with the braces underneeth to stop them doing what its done above) are no where near as comfy !

I just never heard of one breaking, I know plenty of old ones in regular use.
