Have ordered two ultegra 10 speed chains to go on my MTB's cos they seemed pretty cheap, thing is road 10spd = mtb 10 spd? (Dunt really matter I've paid for 'em I'm so I'm bleedin well running 'em - even if the wheels don't go round - mebbes).

Yep. In fact I'm pretty sure the packets say Ultegra/XT

Yeah it's fine. I only ever ran XTR / Duran Ace 10spd chains.
The difference between MTB and road 10spd is shifting cable pull ratio. Not chain pitch / width.

Only thing is sometimes cheap road chains are pretty short
