[Closed] Alternatives to Flow EX

Seem to have put a big flat spot in my notubes flow rim. Before I order a flow EX to replace it is there a better alternative? Looking at 26" rims with an internal ID of at least 23mm, I've shortlisted the following but open to other suggestions -
E Thirteen TRS Race (23.4mm / 395g)
E Thirteen TRS+ (23.4mm / 420g)
WTB Frequency i-23 (23mm / 455)
WTB KOM i-23 TCS (23mm / 401g)
WTB Frequency i-25 (25mm / 490)
WTB KOM I-25 TCS (25mm / 420g)
notubes Flow EX (25.5mm / 490g)

Anyone have any comments on the above? I'm suspicious of the lighter rims with respect to dent resistance but maybe this is unfounded? Or should I just stick with the flow EX.

Got a new 29er set of these, very impressed so far.

Nice and stiff in 29in, so should be rock solid in 26.

Depending on how fussed you are about weight you can get some Spank emails from CRC that are pretty wide

Somebody on here commented he thought the Flow Ex flats a lot easier than the original Flow rims. Perhaps track down an older Flow rim?

Have got an i-25 + Hope front only 4 months from new but it seems OK so far

Got the E13 LG1s on the DH bike - been delighted with the lightness of them , plus they've been rock solid thus far, and they look ace. Not bothered with tubeless, but may splash out on some SG Magic Marys at some point to give it a go.

It was an older flow rim that I've flatted.
Will check out the superstar ones - cheers.
For some reason Spank stuff doesn't float my boat.

I have Flow EXs on my AM bike, I'm a total FB and I've had no flats, dings or other issues. Running tubeless so can't comment on (why?) running them with tubes.

I went through something similar at the end of the year - new wheelset or rebuild my super reliable Hopes onto new rims. But what rims? Looked at every option and the one that kept popping up for reliability, weight, width etc was the Flow EX. Only had 3 rides on them so far but very pleased I went with them. A mates been running original Flows on his bike for 5/6 years.

another Frequency i-25 user here, very happy, seem stiffer than the Flow and have certainly held up better over the 3 months i've had them (i've flatspotted and bent Flows a lot)

WTB's haven't been the roundest rim in the world whenever we've built with them, so not the easiest but pretty solid once they're done.
Flow's have been about as reliable as anything & even some local & rather good (world cup) DH racers have been running them.

Got a friend who used the Ryde rims, went through 3 or 4 of them in a couple of months, they got smashed to bits.

I have a set of E13 TRS rims built onto some DT Swiss hubs & they have been raced on for nearly 12 months now & they haven't been dented yet.

That includes a load of local DH races, enduro's, the Mega & 2 weeks in Whistler.

The rims seem pretty good, unlike the hubs!

DT Swiss EX 1501 seems a lot stronger than my old Flow EX, although I've still managed to flat spot it so not bullet proof, seem to stay truer as well. Touch wood no broken spokes either - yet! Only had them 8 months, but they've done over 1000 miles of rocky Lake District which is pretty hard on wheels in my experience ๐Ÿ™‚

when I asked this question of JRA prevously, the Ryde Trace Enduros were recommended. Though the feedback from others in this thread does seem a little mixed.
