Anyone know of any decent alternatives that do exactly the same as Everytrail.com?
I have always used Everytrail, but their system keeps falling apart and I think it’s run by a bloke in his bedroom. When it works, it does exactly what I want it to and I have many trips logged on there so be a shame to give it up but I can’t live with the shonky-ness!
Needs to simply be able to upload my track in gpx from my PC (which in turn comes from a tiny Holux 1200). Then put up my pics from my camera that auto position using the date stamp (in GMT) on the photo against the position on the GPS. It really is as simple as that. I don’t want all that teenage bollocks where it links with my Facebook and tells me where my mates are and who I might like in the same town and all that bollocks, or even use the latest iPhone. I’m 52 FFS!! I just want to log where I’ve been and keep a record that others might want to use when planning their trips

Garmin Basecamp should do that I think. You'd create an Adventure with GPS track and photos.
Strava will do it if you upload via Instagram
does that publish it on the www for others to see?
what map does it have as the base map?

Came across this one the other day after someone posted their ride on it...
Similar to EveryTrail in that you can publish routes with photos and ride description. Even does turn by turn stuff.
Maybe a bit road biased but seems to cater for mountain biking also and categories rides into various other categories.

You can now upload photos in the Strava mobile app, you don't have to use Instagram.

Only when tracking with the app though. If you use a Garmin, then it's Instagram on the phone and it will hook up with the ride, so long as you upload them during the ride.
On ridebygps.com I can't see photos geotagged to a location and seems you have to pay,(a lot) to had premium that has all the features.
As for Instagram, I don't do that either!

Actually you can add a photo later with the app and it'll work it out. Not sure if you can do the same on the website though.
No option to upload a photo on the website

This is a wee one I've just put together using Basecamp and some non-geotagged photos.
Doing "Create Adventure" on Basecamp lets me add a GPX track and as many photos as I want. I then "Publish Adventure" and it pops up as you see it in the link above.
