I've recently built an Alpine 160 and took it for it's first ride. Quite noticeable the chain dropped off the outer chain ring far more regularly than any other bike I've ridden. I'm using a fairly standard dbl + bash xt set up with bb bottom chain guide. I's this a feature of the alpine 160/single pivot bikes.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Must be a set up problem, mate rides a 5 and never drops his chain with same set up.
Try mech height and stop adjustmenets
shouldnt be anything to do with the frame, the hub should be in the middle of the bike, as should the BB.
its a setup issue if you ask me (though couldnt comment as to what)
This isn't going to help, but I've had mine since August last year and it doesn't happen. Not got a chain device either. Even a week in Verbier didn't throw it. Sorry !
front mech upper limiter needs tightening
Interesting to hear your experiences. Being only a mildly competent mechanic I suspected it might be something with the set up. I'll get a proper mechanic to look it over. Apart from the chain dropping I've been incredibly impressed with the bike. Nice for once to find a bike that's better than the hype. I popped some 36 vanilla's on the front and oh boy do they make for an amazing front end. Happy days ahead...
Good choice ! I had the standard 36 Float R 's converted to Vanillas, it's a vast improvement.
Enjoy your new toy, I've never had a bike that I can go down known trails so quick on. A proper grin inducer !!

All is now right with the alpine...currently enjoying being thrashed to within an inch of my life on the singletrack of sainte foy with the whiteroom. Happy days indeed
