How does the oil stay in it?

I'd heard the Alfine 11 used helical gears, I can see it's not all of them now.
I wonder why they use a mixture of helical and straight cut gears like that.
Helical = quieter.
Straight = less drag.
Why mix them up in one gearbox ?
