After a built up bike with Alfine 11 gears hybrid, mountain bike, tourer in that area. Must have discs and would really prefer 26" wheels and front suspension. After minimum maintenance .I need at least one bike that is always working i.e. the Alfine 11. I brake bikes quite easily (it's can be a long way back from the pub) I have 2 in need of repair at the moment although I haven't damaged them myself. I will buy a rolhoff eventually but until I can get the right one at the right price I will buy a made up Alfine 11 one. Retrofitting doesn't look like good economics to me. Planet X Ltd “On-One Pompetamine Alfine 11 Speed Pro” Is all I have come across up to now. Looks good but no front suspension and 700. Anyone seen anything else about. Thanks for looking
why front suspension? a real pain when your on the road ime.
pub bike? how far is the pub, is it hilly?
single speed an inbred frame most of the time, and then when you get around to touring, have a nice set of gears, or alfine wheel ready, but unabused?
I have an alfine 8 with 26" wheels no sus, use it on the road, its just about all you need for on road, if money is no option then i would prob go for the 11 for the extra low range.
Cant say i ever want sus forks on it just more weight to lug about.
You can get Cotic Roadrats with Alfines, or there are the Genesis iODs, both very different things though.
I'm loving my Genesis day one alfine that I bought a month ago from Edinburgh Bicycle Uncooperative. Been running with alfines for 3 years now for the commuter, and would never go back to normal gears for that purpose.
Unless your pub commute is gnarley I'd consider whether you need FS.
Also, why 11 speed? Unless you are doing cols every day or aren't particularly fit I'd go for the 8 as its about half the price. The on-one looks good value though.
I love my Alfine 8, I'm using it on my P7 as a XC off-road bike. Never going back to derailleurs.
oh, www.rose-bikes.co.uk have been cheaper than on-one for Alfine.
genesis IOID Exactly what you need

Front suspension as I have come off when I have gone through puddle which had a hidden pot hole right over handle bars. Also some shortcuts involve ruff briddle paths. Do go off road with trailer to collect firewood and apples (cider). Pubs my preferance is one 11 mile away (5 cask). The route to latter is very hilly eventhough I am in Lincolnshire I am on the Wolds (old english for hills). Do lpub crawls on bike upto 50 miles.
Cotic Roadrats with Alfines appears to only available as an 8.
genesis IOID May be a to expensive for me but I am checking to see if they have rack fittings need them also I use trailers extra gears help

A lot off road this trailer can be full of wood or apples I thought suspension might be a benefit but probably not

Thanks all decided to go for Thorn Rolhoff or another Rolhoff equiped bike 2nd hand on Ebay. To tight to pay 1200 or more for the 11 speed as I expect the price to fall eventualy. Might be hoping but I am just to tight. Thanks again SD-235
Got myself a Thorn Raven enduro mountain bike full disc brakes the lot 1140 pound. 3 years old done about 500 miles. Bang on what I wanted!
