Sounds like I've got air leaking from the fork leg, and now very little travel. It's an old '99 Rock Shox SID long travel. Rang the bike shop who 'ummed and aaahhhhed and said they may have to be bled in a certain way and will maybe have to be sent to someone else'.
Anyone had experience with these forks? advice?
Old SIDs had a few, err, 'issues' shall we say. TFTuned used to do a mod on them, IIRC, that sorted these issues. Your best be is to send it to them, but to be honest fixing it (£80-£90) will cost more than the fork is worth (£50-ish) and you'd be better adding a few quid to that and getting some newer, used, Rebas, which will be a far superior fork. I'd say you've had your money's worth out of them 🙂
Yep I think TF are the only people that work on those now as they'll have a few spare parts left over.
We don't touch ( the 28mm Stantioned ones)them due to their age, just undoing parts can cause them to break.
You've definatly got your monies worth as Peter says, so a nice set of Rebas or Sids should be easy to find for a few more quid than a service on those which would be at least £80 with TF pricing.
