Hi all, does anyone know if there are any trail closures for the above date? The owner of Bryn Teg suggested there would be but I've had a look at the official sites and can't see anything listed. Looks like the GB Rally is that weekend, does that use the forest park?
Thanks for any help,
Jonathan
It normally only closes Whites & Skyline & then its only for Marshals & emergency vehicle access on the fireroads.
They re-routed the trails when I was at Afan this time last year on Rally weekend.
Actually it was cool to see 10 mins of the rally!
That could be annoying, group of 10 already booked to go over there that weekend.
Have sent message message through mbwales.com asking about re-routing of trails for that weekend.
Hmm, thanks all. Cakerider, could you post the response you get on here?
Thanks
Jonathan
Bit of Skyline closed at the moment. Not sure when it re-opens, but the diversion kicks in at 'July' IIRC (we were taking the short route back and not doing the whole thing), and routes you back along the fireroad and across a bit of temporary trail before descending back to the trail centre.
chimpymcchimp, will do.
part of the weekend planning to drive up to brechfa as well so will rejig plans so to avoid any trail closures
Anyone heard anything about this yet?
I can't see anything on the FC site
Not heard anything...I'm just going anyway and will travel to Brechfa if it's closed! Need some sweet singletrack, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.
I've just managed to see the stage maps for the rally & it looks like the only stage near will be SS7/10 Rhondda & that appears to be far enough North & East to not interfere with the trails
They seem to close everything these days this is on the Forestry Commission Wales' Web Site
Due to technical reasons, the Forestry Commission website will be unavailable from 9am on Saturday 3 October. The website should be available again on Sunday 4. Apologies for any inconvenience.
was trying to find out if there is a posted an order for a temp closure on open access in the same forest as they normally would do that too if there was a rally and any notice would state that.. however cant find any notices so they must only post them on site which appears a bit late and therefore useless.
If anyone wants details of where the special stages will be, I've put a gpx file here
