Which would be more suitable? I've got a Cannondale Flash with 80mm travel. I've done Glyncorrwg about 5 years ago. But on a 5 inch hardtail and it was alright. Never tried Afan though.

Once on the trails they are essentially the same place

Either. Both. Ride W2 from either trail centre would be my advice.

Whites v YWall I assume? Pretty much the same. It'll be a little harsh in places, but climbs will be quick

If you're on a Flash you may as well do the w2 which includes both Afan (the wall) and Glyncorrwg (whites).
Personally I'd be riding over the hill in the Margam forestry linking local singletrack with the remains of the Penhydd
