Is the Kinetics 8spd kit the best way? Or are there alternatives? After much debate and 'research' last year, I opted for a 2spd Brompton. Frankly it was a mistake, I really should have got a 6spd as it's too much effort on the ups and too spinny on the downs/ flat. I'm getting nagged as it's not being used so only option seems to be swap out all the gearing for something more suitable. And yes, it will negate any savings I'd make on C2W.

I'd go for front mech and a double.

Something like the Spa xd2

You can upgrade from 2 to 6 pretty easily, by just swapping the back wheel - in fact I've got a spare one I pulled off a new bike you can have for a good price if you like.

And if I definitely can't talk you into a Rohloff and disc brakes 😉
