Now being the proud owner of a Scott eride genius 920,,picked up 3pm today(Saturday) its in the front room to be admired and allow me to go over the manuals it comes with and familiarize myself to the bike and its settings and components. The size incidentally is XL.

Just behind the seat tube, opposite the shock is a sticker giving some information, but whats more than a little disconcerting is on the sticker is says 'This bike weighs 27kg'
Now in the website it lists the bike at 23.40kg.It inconveniently doesn't say which frame size that is.

Now I've looked trying to find specific weights for the different sizes of each, s,m,l,xl and all i can find is one reference to a large and it weighs 52lbs, which is about 23.60kg.
I can understand the makers would want to list the lightest figure they can, which could correspond to the smallest frame, but could there really be 3.6kg between a small frame and a XL frame 😕 I really cannot see that being the case. So is the sticker wrong, or is there some other true weight the manufacturer is being a little liberal with the truth about. It's an alloy frame, and theres bound to be a bit of extra metal between S and XL, but 8 pounds of it 😕 Must be something wrong somewhere.
Could it possibly be shipping weight, with all the bits, charger etc that come with the bike. I feel like weighing these bits now 😆

Lovely bike, metallic dark blue, and apparently the only genius 920 2021/22 currently in Scotland.

Anyone ?
I feel like emailing Scott to find out why this is.

I’d be surprised if there was even 0.36kg difference between small and XL, in otherwise like for like bikes.

What does it actually weigh? And does what it says on a sticker actually matter?

If you do email them, be sure to go straight to the CEO

I've watched a couple of YT vids concerning the bike and on all of them you can see the 27kg sticker, Sizes in the different vids appear to be medium and large. Theres going to be a simple explanation or the reviewers expecting a 23.4kg bike would likely have brought it up with some disappointing words.

I think im going to be feeling very silly when i find out what its about 😳

edit: Since found another forum where this has been brought up, seems im not alone in this confusing, and some have weighed their bikes getting about the advertised weight, but so far theres no actual explanation as to what its about. bikes mentioned was the 910 and he weighed it at 23.8kg and also the 900 tuned carbon.
Cant relate to the actual weight if the carbon 900 tuned and the 910, and my 920 share the same 27kg sticker.

I mean you bought a motorbike. It's going to be heavy?

Perhaps a regulations thing in the same way bikes have to be given a classification?

Why not
A.weigh it
B. Remove the sticker and ride it instead of staring at it.

It's an ebike, it will be heavy but it'll be a riot to ride!

For £35 I'll sell you a sticker that says 19kg. That's an 8 kilo saving for a tiny sum of money.

It's an EN standards thing and I'd expect they all over-estimate the weight to ensure compliance. Maybe not by 3kg usually but some margin will be added.

You've got it wrong!

You knock the 27kg off your weight so you know how someone that light feels when they ride.

Take the sticker off the bike and the bike will weigh less.

Weigh yourself and then get a tattoo with the details.

Mine arrived on Wednesday, I don't care what it weighs, I've even lifted it over a fair few locked gates, it's no that bad really, but riding the thing? it's an absolute ****ing hoot!!! 😄

Hate away!

That sticker is there to stop you putting it onto a bike rack that are generally 20kg or less, treat it like a warning, and probably a little higher than the actual weight.

p.s, my ebike hasn't been weighed, claimed weight of 24.4 or something like that, but i've then stuck on DD 2.6 tyres, water bottle and tools, i wouldn't get too hung up with 3kg or whatever, you'll probably put more weight on the bike, and that's before the mud hits it ;o)

Possibly weight without battery is listed and sticker shows weight with battery?

I dont have scales, not sure where that came from 😕 Anyway, its nothing that is too bad and some of my earlier bikes, especially loaded with shopping feel similar, so the weight isnt going to bother me any.

Is the bike set up for dual battery?

Sounds a likely explanation. Maybe that is the case, complete witht eh extra battery its 27, but either way the weight isnt a problem.

Today, I fitted a set of pedals and went for a short bimble about to try it out, off to Mums as she's in hospital currently, and im looking after the house... and Oh My God it is fing amazing 😀 . Used the tour setting and it fairly whizzes along. If i were to try to describe it, it's like being on a tandem with a pro cyclist on the back. It just multiplies the input effort and you quickly accelerate. The hills en route to Mums house i do find a slog, and always into the wind but today, it was zero bother and up I went with minimum of effort.
No need to preach to the converted, but anyone else - BUY AN E-BIKE, it makes the up bit of anything actually enjoyable.
all this was on tour, sod knows what turbo is going to be like 😯 I refrained as the brakes arent bedded in and a bit of fettling bars and saddle and didnt want to push it till all that was comfortable.
