[Closed] Absolute Black oval rings, what's the deal?

Ordered an Absolute Black direct fit ring for the Mrs bike in 32t. They took the order but then emailed to say they were out of stock and had sent the oval one instead and if I didn't love it then they'd replace it.

I don't know anything of oval rings on MTB, certainly never been tempted to use them on my road bike. why would it be useful, if indeed it actually is. It certainly looks odd and clashes with my idea of a good looking product.

Will she hate it, will she even notice? Which way around do they fit? Oval at 12/6 o clock or 3/9?

Why can't this just be simple, it's only a bloody chainring.

Cheers for the link. Interesting. Still not sure I'd order one usually. Will try it and see I guess.

Like mine a lot, especially riding rooty bumpy ground, feels like I can pedal more and maintain better speed.

Best on a singlespeed. Love mine. Evens out the stroke.

I have no intention on EVER using a single speed.

I know it's probably a free upgrade in their eyes, but I'd be annoyed by that if I wasn't asked first.

Junkyard - Touché 😉

George, yes can't say I'm overly impressed but they say they'll swap it if we're not happy so guess it'll go on for now.
