Just been to try out my new build, see thread here...

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/my-little-project-frame-finished

However on first bimble out on street the rear lever spewed all the fluid out from where the hose goes in. Now i did shorten the hose, fitted new olive, fitted new screw thread end insert in hose and bled the brake. All went fine and no leaks so why is it that as soon as i get on the bike and try it out it fails?????

I am GUTTED ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

What did i do wrong, do the olives go on a certain way or did i get the wrong hose insert.

Help..............please?

Ok, taken it apart and the olive is uncompressed with the hose sitting at the start of the olive, is there a seal that goes in ahead of the hose barb into the lever or is it hose with barb inserted then olive over it all tightened down?

Is the olive down the hose the right distance?

You didntt push the hose in all the way Im guessing.

It takes an extra shove to get the hose (and brass insert) home against the cylinder outlet.

I would have thought you'd have sussed why - its because you did it wrong.

But perhaps you just wanted a bit of flagellation on an internet forum?

Science...i didn't know why hence i asked, maybe someone else has experienced this themselves. However on a bit of investigation have obviously assembled it wrong first time round (flagelate away), i don't understand why it didn't show itself until ridden though as i have pulled the lever loads after assembly.

Anyhow, re-assembled and will test a little later but prelimanry pulls of lever show no fluid so fingers crossed.

Glad you managed to get the brake sorted, have you gone back and made sure that you have throughly cleaned the bike where the brake fluid possibly made contact as the dot fluid is massively corrosive and could wreck the lovely finnish of your frame or fork.

I wiped it off, think i will have a go with some isopropyl wipes just in case.
