Any Bristol riders out there who would know if you can sit outside with the bikes and have a pint & chips at the Mall pub in Clifton or anywhere else nearby that may be suitable?

The Mall is probably the closest for that yea. Theres a regular group from here that goes on wednesday evenings. I can't make it today though. Drop me an email (in my profile) and i'll add you to the email group.
Clifton is best if you want to stay at the top of the hill. Another option is to ride down through Ashton Court (Or Leigh Woods) to the bottom and take the cycle path to the docks to the Cottage Inn. Gets you a bit more downhill riding in.
