had a good year on the bike.

not too bad for a fat old grandad running with a dodgy valve.

Bloody good effort, well done 😃

I've definitely spent a lot more time running than cycling this year, but hey ho, it's all fun.

Good going!

Long COVID has kept me down to 135 miles for the year. And that's on an ebike! 😅 (Plus maybe 200-300 miles in commuting).

Still, that's a good step up on the previous year, where i barely managed to get on the bike at all. So fingers crossed for 2026....

i am.  my ticker is still in AF but the drugs i take seem to be enabling me to cycle. all be it at a low intensity.

all my rides are at 10mph or just under.  but to be honest, when you are touring or pottering about, why would you want to travel any quicker.

dropped out of the 100 day challenge because i had a very high heart rate for a few days, but it eased off after a bit of a rest. and the Rapha thing was ok for the first 3 days, but i then got a bit bored with it.

if i had gone away on a mini tour it would have been ok. but needed to be home for a family over xmas.

on a side not, a lot on here seem to find it a bit boring counting the miles..... i used to. but when you have had, or have a illness that stops you riding, then every small challenge/ target helps you keep sane.  good for your mental state.

Working now until the end of the year so no more riding until NYD for me.

My goal is always 5000 miles so we'll off that in what has been frankly a rubbish year. If 2026 continues in the same vein I'm not sure how I'll cope.

Just checked my Strava - 3,163 miles for the year, which I'd hoped would be higher, but apparently 15% further than last year, so I'm actually quite pleased with that.

I think that if you're trying to "keep going" to fend off the effects of aging then having these sort of targets can be a real incentive. Better that than stamp collecting, crochet or just sitting watching daytime TV.

With a day to go, my year totals look like this..

I'm about 50km down on last year's running distance, quite a bit less turbo and quite a bit more outdoor cycling. I reckon 2026 will continue that trend. I'm also planning more bivvy/camping trips again as I've sort of lost that mojo. Bivvy-a-month might be another incentiviser.

Well done ton.  That's probably more miles than my wife's car has covered this year 🤔.

Totally relate to this. My current limit is 18ish miles, even on an ebike, when I feel up to it - about once a month. But finding new bits of road to try out, that I've never cycled before, keeps me motivated to get out and see a bit more of the surrounding area. Also, finding a new pub or cafe for my mid-ride rest!

this, 100%.  I don’t tend to use Strava to count walking, though I do about 8k a day on average with the dog.

Indifferent year for me. Was going well up to Easter, had big plans racing wise (competing in the National 12 and 24hr TT championships) but a horrendous crash on a training ride that had me in hospital for 9 days with 3 broken ribs, smashed collarbone and a punctured lung resulted in me writing off this year racing wise. Wasn’t allowed outside on the bike until mid July so spent a lot of time on Zwift so quite a bit of my annual mileage contained virtual miles. Generally set a target of 12k and didn’t think I was going to get anywhere near it but I just kept plugging away and after completing the Rapha500 (all outside) I just sneaked over my target.

After reading this thread, and then noticing how close I was to 10,000km, I spent 3h on the indoor trainer yesterday (roads were a bit iced up). Dull but it got me there 🙂

136,522m of elevation. No wonder I'm knackered.
