Hi all, is it possible to fit a Shimano 9spd freehub to a wheel fitted with a Shimano 11 Speed freehub ?

Yes, you may need a spacer.

Standard Shimano MTB 8, 9, 10, and 11 speed cassettes are cross-compatible. 12 speed is different AFAIK, not sure about XTR stuff.

You need a spacer, other than that you should be fine.
