[Closed] 7 speed shifter with 6 speed cassette?

I've recently gotten hold of an old tandem, on which I am intending to tour the Tour of Pembrokeshire. I was hoping to upgrade a few bits using some spares. The shifters are very old and hard to operate so I wanted to swap them with rapid fire shifters. However, I'm not sure if my 7 speed shifters would work with a 6 speed cassette if I adjusted the limit screw to only allow the shifters to work over 6 cogs. Can that work or is the spacing of the cogs an issue?

Spacing is an issue, will not work. 7s cassettes are cheap though.

Not sure they made 6 speed cassettes. It's probably a screw on.
I don't know if you can swap a 6 speed for 7 speed screw on so you'll prob need a new hub or wheel.

I've done exactly this on 2 bikes. Shimano 7sp shifters with old 6 speed rear screw on freewheel (Not the newer cassette freehub style). No problem at all. Just adjusted the limit screws as u said.
