Now I have fractured my coccyx, I think this maybe a future injury area so I want to protect it. I have seen the above shorts are there any other alternatives?? Especially ones that don't break the bank ๐Ÿ˜€ Also as I ride xc and trail centres I have to be able to actually pedal for distances in them.
Cheers

Oh and mtfu is not a solution as it effing hurts when you do it:lol:

I've got the D30 Bombers. They're good, OK to pedal in, other than a slight feeling of wearing womens' underwear... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

To be honest though, if you fell on your coccyx hard enough to break it, I'm not sure how much difference they'd make. The coccyx pad is pretty small. If you really wanted full-on protection, you'd have to go for some hard-shell, DH-type shorts and I suspect they'd be grim for normal riding.

My honest advice would be MTFU! Surely lightning can't strike twice? ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Yup, the D30 bombers do have coccyx protection but it's pretty marginal. They're really good to pedal in, I doubt you'll find less restrictive armoured shorts but I'm not totally convinced by the level of protection, the pads are quite gappy and don't all seem to be in quite the right places. Still, it's always a compromise of protection and comfort, they just happen to nod more in the direction of comfort, which works very well- the best protection is the protection you'll actually wear, rather than the ones that'll be on the shelf.

POC ones seem good, but they come with a little chamois seatpad and I can't stand those. Level of padding and protection seemed excellent, they were a little more noticable when worn than the 661s but not bad at all.

I use POC shorts, like them alot. I found bombers too hot for my nether regions!

The other thing to use if you want even more protection is a mini back protector which just covers the lower spine. Mines a dianese which I got for snowboarding but use it occasionally for riding as I find it much more comfortable than a full back protector.
