£70 from 'that fettler' is a bit steep. Is it possible to clean/service yourself and if so - any guides available??

nope - stop trying to do everything on the cheap! It's not necessarily a cheap sport if you want decent stuff!

Kind of depends on the shock.
My old stratos coil + air shock was entirely user serviceable, since it didn't have any high pressure nitrogen charge.
Not sure about the 5th coil.

Just remember to put your face in front of every bit that could fly off at high speed when you undo it and you will be fine.

"Your 5th Element shock is pressurized. The shock should never be opened, disassembled or serviced,
except by an authorized service center. OPENING A PRESSURIZED SHOCK CAN BE DANGEROUS
AND CAN RESULT IN INJURY!"
