[Closed] 5Ten freeriders vs Pro vs Shimano Gr7 flat shoes??

So, I'm currently nursing my 3 year old pair of freeriders, uppers are still good, but the sole is now pretty shredded and actually leaking in a couple of places from pin tears. I've been super happy with them and they've been bomber solid for a good long while. Fit is good too. However, I've read that since Adidas has taken control, they've changed the sizing a little and also the quality isn't as good. Can anyone verify?? There are some good deals on freeriders atm, but also been offered some worn once freerider pros for 50 quid... Obviously they're supposed to be a better shoe, but heard fit is different? My other wildcard option is the Shimano gr7 shoe. Similar price, maybe not quite as outright grippy, but like the look of them and seen some glowing reviews.

Anyone tried any of the above and thoughts and comparisons please.

Cheers gang 😀

I really rate my Freeriders but they last about a year before the soles collapse. My GR7s are a year old and they don’t look worn at all. Not quite as grippy but there’s not much in it, and they dry quickly.

I prefer the FR but not enough to pay full price when the GR7s are so close.

Have a set of GR5 and they're ace. Have had (and still do have) loads of 5:10s.

I much prefer Freerider Pros to plain Freeriders.

Stiffer and hold your foot better. Two years old and still going strong.

Torsoinalake How's the fit compared to standard FR? Don't they come up narrower?

I have had all 3 and have freerider pros and GR5 at the min. The pro are the best for me, nice and stiff with great grip

Sprocker,

what’s your opinion of the GR5?

Freerider and freerider pro here . Always take a size 9 in all shoes but had to go to a 9.5 in the pro's . Freerider pro is lighter , more grippy and faster drying than regular freeriders .

They fit better compared to the standard Freeriders, which I found fitted fine but then went baggy quite quickly. As far as sizing goes they have a cm sizing on their chart, that plus 1cm on foot measurement worked for me.
