I have a 2013 Giant Anthem with 3x9 (24/30/42 and 11/36 cassette), Would a Shimano 11/46 cassetts fit on at the back ? I'm assuming the 11 sprocket cassette is just thinner than the 9 sprocket cassette and both are overall the same with when fitted ? Its an old schoold pull quick release on the rear wheel and a 24cm rim.

It's a bit more complicated than that but it'll fit. You could go up to 12spd.
