Ok. So i've opted for a pair of Turbine 24/36 chainrings that put the rings in the granny and middle ring positions of my XT 770's.

I then went to select the 2x option on my 10sp shifters only to find out that it's a middle and big shift... is this right??

Can this be altered?

Paul

Leave it in 3x10 option, and set the hi/lo screws to limit travel as required!!

Presumably xtr shifters? The 2x lever is correct for small and middle rings, put it in granny and flick the switch, job done.

Yeah i just wanted to explore options first

Does this mean anybody wanting to run a double and bash can't use the 2x option on XTR M985? I always presumed that the best positioning for chain line etc was granny/middle?

Sorry Goatster i'm a post behind.

Tried that, switch won't engage. If i change up into the middle ring it locates 2x easily??

Sorry wrong way, it you put it to the other end then flick the switch to 2 x. It is then set to a two way lever. Just do it before you fix the cable to the front mech so the mech is at the granny before you fix the cable.

Why would you want to use the switch anyway? It's for M985 cranks where the rings aren't quite in the same place as on a triple.

If you're just running 2 rings on a triple then just use the outer stop screw to stop the mech travelling too far, using the 3x position on the shifter.
