[Closed] 3k Carbon frame warranty advice please

Bought a 3k hardtail from a large manufacturer under 2 years ago and noticed a crack in the seat post last week. Took it to the LBS where I bought it and they said dont ride it we'll talk to the manufacturer. They agreed to warranty it and sent a new frame out and the LBS shop swapped all the bits over. Awesome service I thought. Popped up to pick it up today and it looks like Jackson Pollock has had a fight with it in the Paint dept of B&Q. Its a completely different colourway to the original frame. There are colour highlights on the seat, forks and wheels and now none of them match. It looks like a right shit tip.

Whats my position if they cant supply the correct colourway frame? They are still advertising my colourway for sale on their website so still hold stock.

Or am I being a fussy bugger and should just get on with it?

Legally, I don’t think they have to match the colour.

They have no obligation to supply with an identical frame. The fact the colours don't match is irrelevant as far as warranty goes. They've supplied you with a frame of the same specification and that is as much as they have to do. Yes it would be nice to supply one the same colour, but they don't have too. Unless the frame was not of the same standard (i.e. they gave you a cheaper aluminium frame rather than carbon for example) you don't really have a position and to be fair if the shop have done the frame swap FOC they didn't have to do that either. It's not ideal but it's often the way it is unfortunately.

They may agree to pay for new custom stickers for the...

seat, forks and wheels

This is what one bike firm did for a pal of mine in a similar situation.

Unfortunately this is what one experienced multiple times. Even wear when they only replaced the front triangle of a full suss bike!

You know we all want pictures, right?

Ahhh cant be naming names by posting pics!! But trust me, your eyes will bleed. From frame queen to colourblind gimp. Its gonna bug me everytime I ride the ****er.

Yeah the LBS are top quality, no problems there. Even with men down they pulled out the stops to swap the frame over.

You're being a fussy sod about the colour. The bike shop and manufacturer both sound great to me..

So crack on and post the pictures so we can all give you an honest opinion...

At least your LBS sorted the seat angle in the rebuild.

Someone on here just had same - but Orange replaced cracked front triangle, resprayed swing arm to match, new bearings and headset.

I had same from orange a few years back too.

It's a nice to, but they don't have to match.

If it is a Giant it's the second one I've heard of in the last couple of days. Only difference was that they have so far refused to honour the warranty on my friend's bike, despite it being less than a year old.

Masturbate whilst looking in to a kaleidoscope; it'll make you colourway blind.

Can you not just take the graphics off the fork and wheels?

Anyway, you’re not going to be getting anything else off Giant. now so just post the photos

This and that Evans thread show what went wrong with the cycling industry (extreme consumerism).

Giant replaced my Defy frameset when the mudguards wore through the seat stays with a different colour way frame. They told me in the store at the time that replacement frames were usually different to the standard builds and I noticed on the website mine was the same as one sold in the Australian market. Actually prefer the one I got to the original.

Although not ideal, you have a new frameset. If you like the ride then go ride and forget about how it looks.

Or sell the bits and buy a new bike.

Surely replacing some decals isn’t going to cost that much? Just remove them if it’s that bad

Please, for the love of god, stop using the word colourway.

^^ this. Why the **** would you not just say "colour". The accents/decals are a different colour. They're not a different colourway.

What's the 3k bit about too? Do you mean it has a cosmetic 3k weave? Or that you spent £3,000 on it?

Colour is singular. My original frame was black and white. My replacement frame was black and white but arranged in a different way.
I'll use colour scheme if you prefer. And if you like you can be really clever and come back with the point that neither black or white are colours.`:-)

Anyway you bunch of gooch fiddlers (apart from the non trolls who offered sound advice). The lovely manufacturer has agreed the colourways are goosed and only fit for someone with no eyes or brain and is sending me a replacement in a more basic colourway which complements wonderfully the colourways on my fork, the colourways on my seat, the colourways on my wheels and last but not least the colourways on my arse.
The only problem now is that the LBS has to stump up the labour on two frame swaps. Before you start, I have offered to do the spannering myself.
Cmon Cynic-Al tell me about Semi Conscious Consumerism, I'm waiting...
