I'm looking to change the seatpost on my road bike as it's not quite long enough (would like to go to 400mm). I can see it's 30.9mm diameter but there aren't many options available in this size as 30.8mm seems far more common.
Am I likely to experience any problems if I put a 30.8mm post on the bike? Would it make a difference whether I go with carbon or alloy?
It's a Giant Defy 2 (2013) if that makes any difference.
Thanks.

It could slip, damage frame, cause injury, death or even the end of the whole human race.
