How do I set up my 3 speed left hand shimano shifter to work with a dual front chainring?
Is it a case of playing with the front derailleur limit screws or are there some gubbins in the shifter?
Or.........do I need a specific 2 speed shifter? There must be a way around this,

Just adjust the limit screws and that will sort, works for me

Just the limiter screws on your derailleur, you need do nothing more! (did it myself, just yesterday, though it was on sram...)
