Sorry but need a minor rant!
I was riding yesterday afternoon, came down from hope cross down the beast and up the short sharp climb to join the A57 where it crosses and carries on up to Hagg farm. I noticed the wall and fence either side of the gate at the top had been trampled down and ridden over by people too lazy to open the gate (loads of tyre tracks), so spent quite a while building the wall back up and trying to shore up the fence with bits of logs, branches and generally trying to make it look a bit unstable and more hassle than opening the gate. Just as I was finishing lifting logs and rocks, 3 bikers came up the path and proceeded to trample over the fence with their bikes, the gate proving too taxing for them.
I exchanged a few words with them along the lines of whats wrong with the gate? I've just spent 15 mins trying to repair it, the fence is there for a reason. I was met with some blank expressions and the remaining bikers carried on climbing over the fence and rode off.
So if it was you, please engage your ****ing brain and have a bit of thought, 10 seconds saves damage to fences and walls and stops sheep running loose round the A57. I've calmed down a bit since yesterday and wasn't quite so polite at the time.

You're quite right, it was a minor rant. Good punctuation, well constructed sentences and paragraphs and limited swearing. You didn't even attempt to beat the swear filter. You sure it wasn't a letter to the Sunday Times?

Sorry! Had I written it 24 hours ago it would have been maybe a better rant more swearing and a bit less thought out. I'll try better next time! 🙂
I personally like the part of your story where the bikers completely ignore you and carry on trampling over the fence.
You must have been really quite scary.
I was out walking yesterday only to find a guy riding a trials motorbike on the footpath.
Fortunately my dog bit his leg.

odd! I don't know what you mean, a bloke tip toeing about in cycling shoes and a helmet dragging rotting vegetation out of the bushes and constructing some sort of rickety fence, perfectly normal!
I wasn't really thinking that rationally now I come to think of it, I didn't even look at what bikes they were on 🙂
there'll be nowt for mtbers to go there for soon anyway... as the F.C continues its gradual destruction of all the bridleways!
