CG taking a 29'er down a bumpy trail.

I really love my 29er ht, but for that kind of riding I'd want a 26". Can't help but think they look a bit clumsy. (Probably not the right word, cumbersome then...)
Yep, not even CG can make them look good on a trail like that. I'm keen to try one on a xc ride though.
But the wheels didn't explode! Shurely shome mishtake? ๐
You English make me laugh. Great innovators and creators but hopeless at evolution and the concept of continual improvement. Look at your car industry (vs the Germans) or computers, etc, etc. Once you dream up an often totally genius idea others take over, develop it and make it a success. You seem to get stuck in a time warp.
Of course some evolution can be a dead end - biopace rings for example - but generally good. 29ers are evolution and a great thing for the MTB world.
They only look 'funny' as some contend because your eyes and aesthetic sense is not used to them yet. In a future world full of 29ers (the rest of the non Europe world are virtually there) it will be the 26ers that look 'funny'. Think of fashions from years ago - looked great then but now looks ridiculous mostly.
Then again I could be talking bollocks as I ride a rigid single speed (a 29er though).
Pfft! Where are the beards?
lol - my 26" looks daft now compared to my adults 29er.
seriously, do you really care if it looks crap or great - surely it's how it rides and reacts ?????? ๐
Bla bla bla, lets get everyone to buy a new bike by getting pros to do promo vids. Massive boost to bike industry, their all so media led it'll be easy. Just like we did with wide bars etc. Bla bla
Hopk1ns - perfect illustration of my point. There is this strange (often English) suspicion that change and evolution is a capitalist conspiracy dreamt up by ad men. If you follow your argument through we would all still be riding 1980 style rigid stump jumpers off road.
Didnt say they are no good. Im sure they have a place for a certain style of riding. Great for churning out the miles xc. Its just the media hype that goes with it, cant trust mag reviews as they want bike companies to buy advertising space.
The future is for both 26 and 29 lets just get past all bull, couple of years and we'll be out of it.
You English make me laugh
Now come on, if your going to make a statement like that then at least put some more e's in for full effect, and don't forget to fart in our general direction..... ๐
