Just wondering what bar & stem combos people are running on their 29ers as I'll shortly be starting a new 29er build aimed at enduros. so is it flats, risers, mary bars etc. ❓
Any pics would be good. 😀
I know its very much personal preference but hey its a sunday, i'm a bit hungover so why not.
Cheers

I'm running Jones ti h-bars, 90mm 0 rise Thomson stem. Different hand positions work for me. I'm interested in trying some flat bars/bar ends as an alternative on other bikes though, so will be interested what this thread turns up.
On the full suss Thomson X4 100mm paired with Nukeproof 760mm bars. Love them for riding out in the open but they can be a tad too large for narrow singletrack. I may cut them down to 740/720 at some stage.
Hardtail has Spesh 90mm stem with EA70's (685mm) which i now find too narrow after the Nukeproofs. I have some Sunline V2's on order from CRC to replace them and they are 711mm. (in fact if they hadn't made such a pigs ear of the order i wouldn't have crashed my motorbike yesterday riding to my office to see if they'd arrived after 9 days....)
You're a big lad so think wider bars may suit you better than narrow ones. I also find they help open up my chest a bit and help me breathe better.
meant to send a pic - Sunline 762mm (I take about 50mm off each end straight out of the box....) flat bars, Sunline XC-1 100mm stem.
hmmmm, twitpic doesn't seem to like direct linking

Cheers Sam, let me know what you want for them and I'll send you the cash over. I quite fancy trying a set of flats on the new bike 😀
Infact Rocketdogs build looks very similar to what i have in mind other than I'll be running some 100mm travel forks (white of course). Did your Swift already have the gear cable routing RD or did you add on afterwards, if so what did you use for the stops and guides, I've found some options but want to make sure I've get all angles covered.
Cheers guys
100mm 7deg stem run upside down, paired with Monkeylite SL low rise.
GB
750mm low rise V1s and 6 degree 90mm stem, don't have a problem getting the front low enough. On 5hr+ rides they do make the outside of my wrists ache as its a fairly unnatural angle for your hands at that width,or it could just be the lack of suspension!Tried carnegies for a bit and while they feel really comfy I missed the elbows out leverege really wide bars give me.
i have just been round gisburn on my ventana......
780mm sunline risers
70mm 5 degree syncros stem
i love wide bars........ 8)
carbon easton low risers with thomson 90mm 5 degree stem, had some jones bars which i loved but couldnt justify the money (now thinking about titec j bars...)
bigsi, it's got a cable stop under the BB, just run full outers, out of interest, what forks are you going to add?
Ah ok cheers RD.
I'll be transfering a set of Manitou Minutes over from my Viper which now I've got them set up right are really quite nice, would like some Fox F29's but at over £450 its a bit beyond me for the time being, the rigids will got on the Viper which will be used for commute, traning duties with a set of drop bars, bar end shifters, mechanical disc brakes, and a cheap set of wheels with CX tyres. It might end up looking like a dogs dinner but should be able to tackle most things 😕
Course, rider size plays a big part, but keeping it simple
I like super short stems (and smaller frames than might be expected for my height), so 50mm stem and 28" 2" risers with 11 deg sweep.
Allows me to move around the cockpit better, and come back easily when going down. Also makes the steering less twitchy
