One of those who crashed out in the road race.
Nibali, Porte? Spaces have just become available and GB moves up the order for spares.
van Vleuten seems to be on the mend thankfully

Thats great news twice AvV and Thomas
Good
Well done BBC, talking about today's time trial with a graphic showing the MTB course ๐
Men's will be between Tom Dumoulin and Chris Froome, I don't think anyone else will get close to them.
Women's - wouldn't even like to hazard a guess with that but the uncertainty of that will make it more interetsing to watch.
Also it's windy and rainy in Rio which will add a nice extra dimension. And possibly extra crashiness... ๐
Not sure the conditions will be good for Emma - she'll get blown all over the place
Conditions look hooooorible...
Aero mudguards. That's what they need!
Ah, the "Marginal Gains Cape"
They're riding like grannies on this first bit. I wonder if there will be carnage on the first descent?
Enjoying watching whilst shoving sausage rolls in to my face
Men's will be between Tom Dumoulin and Chris Froome
Dumoulin has a broken wrist doesn't he? That's got to be a problem on any climbs.
Broken wrist in windy conditions as well, harder to keep control.
Tony Martin is in with a good chance, I'd say.
Surprise package Dennis to go for it, been setting up all year
That'll be for pudding
Emma definitely looking like a triathlete on that first corner ๐
Almost 3 weeks since Dumoulin's broken arm, and he was reportedly back riding within days, it's plausible it won't cause him that big a problem.
Looks slippery! I bet Brazil re-tarmacked some of the roads & put new markings down which probably doesn't help.
As much as I like taking the pee out of things I have to say it looks bloody hairy
What are the odds on Thomas not crashing today ?
Not taking that bet - he is getting something of a reputation
can someone post updates as I can't get coverage where I am..?
Pooley 30-odd seconds down at first check.
I'm thinking that as above, the conditions really aren't suiting her ๐ - she isn't looking good technically and doubtless losing time on those bits.
Tara Whitten from Canada is leader on the road, Pooley in thrid behind Mooman-Paseo (I think that's the name)

Van Dijk has just been off, exploring the undergrowth.

Crashes on the climb!
Van Dijk just rode off the road on the climb!? From the replay (I've no commentary on) it looked like one of her shoes unclipped
She just wasn't paying attention and tried to cut the corner, which found her on a bit of broken, cambered tarmac at the edge of the road.
Nah, she just got caught on dodgy surface and had a bit of a wobble
*EDIT* What Mikey said
Van dijk in fourth at the first timecheck despite her adventyre
Van Dijk has just been off, exploring the undergrowth.
If only there had been straw at the side of the road, she wouldn't have come off
I've just replayed it, and she just rode off the edge of the road, not a technical problem
Pooley's probably regretting coming out of retirement for this one, so far at least.
(hoping for commentator's curse)
I see there's a few old mattresses taped to the lamp posts.
Looks more like Rochdale than Rio.
Armstrong takes the lead (at first check) - where's that form come from?
40s or so up on Pooley, who apparently lost more time to the second check - I think hoping for her to get a medal is now wildly optimistic
She's clearly had some of Hillary Briss' special stuff.
Looks more like Rochdale than Rio.
Geraint Thomas tweeted a picture of the beach earlier and said he felt more at home now cos it was exactly like Barry Island!
Weather is atrocious. I'd be surprised if Pooley is even inside top 10 by the end of this.
Pooley finishes in third 1.30 down on Tara Whitten, so she's only going to go down the rankings
