I've done my due dillagance on Google.
But I would like some real world input from you guys.

How easy is it to replace all the rear bearings on an Anthem, I strip and service everything, reverb, forks shock etc, but have never tackeled the bearings yet.

If I grab the back wheel at 3 o'clock, at the furthest point from the front ( not a time of day before you all start) I can move the rear end side to side like its flexing. There is no free play. Is this normal at the axel its anout 15-20 mm.

Where is the best place to buy a bearing set, how much should I be paying, seems to be around £50?

Thanks in advance.

FWIW in the Giant dealers I worked in we just used to source them from an online bearings store. They kept a variety inc Enduro but it can be done for low cost as far as the parts involved. If you're doing the work yourself you'll know it's easy enough to identify the bearings you need and just order a 'kit' in individual parts.

I can't recall ever sourcing a bearing kit or individual bearing from Giant although I was always impressed that they could supply FS frame components (e.g. complete Trance rear sub frames) for older models right down to correct colour ways.

I can recall my trance having fairly flexy stock wheels and there being natural flex in the rear triangle, are you sure it's actually worn bearings?

Is there any vertical play noticeable? A small amount might be a worn DU bushing on the rear shock though?

It does flex a bit especially using the leverage from the point you are holding it. There is no DU bushing in the bottom of an Anthem 29 shock.

Hold the chainstays near the seat post and the seat post and look very hard at the linkage while you wobble. Mine went into a shop on Thursday as I can see movement in the bearings after nearly 3 years of riding/racing. I ordered the kit - which is specified as a kit - from BETD and my LBS is charging £40 to fit fyi

Ordered mine from http://mbbearings.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_6&products_id=551 and were spot on.

Rear bearing that pivots through the seat tube is shot.
Off to order a full set.
Knock on effect of a full strip down, time for
Fork seal kit
Rear shock seal kit
Reverb bleed, could do with a new collar!
Brake bleed
Rear gear cable set

Well that's £150 gone

Do you need a blind bearing puller for some of those bearings stoddys? Mine prob need doing but I thought it required a bit more than the usual screwdriver and socket bodge-fest.

I will pm you next weekend when I've done it.
Having striped it down it's the ones by the bb I'm most concerned with, looks doable.
