Anyone know of any web or shop deals on 2011 Fox forks - seems like the prices seem somewhat fixed still? The 2012's are out this month so I was looking at the possibility of getting some 2011's in the sales if there's a good deal to be had - specifically looking at either Float 150RLC or 36 Float RLC.

Ta.

Have you ridden a 32 150? If so i would test some before buying. Both myself and a mate had a set and i've now got a set of lyrics whilst he's gone with Revelations. We didn't get on with them due to finding them too flexy. Both also had issues with the crown area starting to creak and groan so they had to be sent back to mojo who, in fairness, replaced without a quibble. Just thought i'd mention since you're considering 36s too.

Edit I'm about 14.5st and he's around 13.5 both with a focus on the more downhill side of riding rather than xc. A lighter mate around 12 stone loves em for the same stuff though.

Gotama - ahh, that's useful to know, funnily enough I'd be replacing a set of 2009 Lyrik Coil U-Turns (might be up for sale)- I love the Lyriks but would quite like to lop 1.5lbs off the weight of the bike in one swoop. Interesting to hear the flex issues with the Float 150's.

To balance that a mate runs 32 Float 150RL 15QR on his Blur LT and loves them. He's never complained about them flexing.

Not seen any great offers on Float 150 Fox recently but there are good deals on Revelations at the moment at Merlin.

Yeah, I went with the Solo air to keep the weight down as much as possible. Really love the lyrics for the riding I do, some would view em as overkill but i really like how well they track through rough rooty sections; different league to the 32s but that is to be expected given its a bigger fork that's heavier. Anyway for me, lyrics or 36s over 32s any day.

Out of interest....how much does he weigh? Roughly. Not suggesting i'm right about flex and he's wrong, i'm just curious. As i said above our mate loves em but he's a chunk lighter and also a more sympathetic rider in that he seems to skip over stuff where we bludgeon through which is no doubt a technique issue on our part but still.

My mate is about 11ish stone and is a pretty smooth rider.

I've got some Float 140s (15QR) on my Zesty and wouldn't say I've noticed any excessive flex. Certainly no more than the DTSwiss/Revelations I've had on other bikes.

I'm around 14stone kitted up and not particularly smooth 🙂

The 32 at 140mm is pretty flexy so stacking an extra 10mm on the same chassis doesn't help. Whether it bothers you at all's another question entirely, I noticed it but it didn't do anything bad. Revelations are the better bet though IMO, only the FIT Fox has them beat dampingwise and all the 32s are flexier.

How much is a standard-steerer CSU? With the big discounts on silly steerers it could possibly start to make sense...

I was thinking that too (I'm looking for Reba 29ers though) but the CSU is £220. I imagine the Fox is just as much.

Benny, try www.bikescene.co.uk
I got £200 off their float 140s last week. £15 for overnight delivery but the savings are worth it.
No online ordering, more of a catalogue then phone to order.
