Decided to give spd,s a chance, anyone got any recommendations for shoes under £100. been looking at Shimano xc50 and diadora protrail.
Gone for Shimano 545 pedals
I've got some Shimano M087's which fit really well, are reasonably stiff, comfy enough for all sayers & didn't go over your budget. Can't go wrong imo...
AM45 if your coming from flats - I've been using the old version, MP66 shoe and M647 (plastic cage) pedal for a while and they're great. Good for winter MTBing too as the shoe is pretty water resistant.
I would suggest walking into a shop and trying a few on, see what fits your feet. Mavic, Shimano, Specialized, Northwave, etc all make decent shoes that are in your budget, comes down to whether you would rather a set of racey or traily looking shoes.
All i can suggest is something stiff and reasonably snug.
Lbs only had gearnes in stock & not my size, tried on a mates am45 great fit but Im not keen on them.
The mesh on Shimano mo87 shoe uppers breaks easily o and the sole units on m122s cuts easily
Your shoe choice seems pretty racy your pedals rather not.
I think the Specialized Rimes could suit you which are a mix and now available on these shores.
Official list price is 30 quid above your budget, though.

Elsewise and as mentioned Shimano AM45 might be a good choice (style, test reviews, What MTB magazine ranking...).
