Excuse the glare, it was just so sunny today ๐Ÿ˜€

The build is:

454 Pike,
Hope/719 Maxle wheels,
ADvantages,
Hone double with a stinger
9 speed XT everything else,
KSi9 (I think) 5" dropper with a Gobi,
Vaults,
60mm On-One stem,
Sunline V1 711 riser,
ODI Cross trainers (crap name, excellent grip)
and a shed load of spacers which I've strategically hidden out of shot ๐Ÿ˜ณ I want to experiment before the hacksaw says hello to the steerer.

I'm going back to HT for a bit, this is all of the parts from my Attack Trail 140. Compared to the 2 PAs I've had (mk2 first, mk1 second as I missed the mk2 when it went) the Eaglet feels more comfortable on the rough but similarly sure footed. The slackness is great, it holds a line with confidence but steers keenly when you give it a bit of shove. The style of the frame does appear to encourage a 'ride the front end' approach, which worked well in the slop.

It climbs pretty keenly and feels nimble at low speed while also appearing more happy on faster, descending sections. Mud clearance has been fine and I've been surprised at the snappiness of the pedal power transfer. I do like a pert back end. There's loads of room above the toptube, but the BB isn't too low which I like.

I'm very happy with it so far, after having bought the frame 2nd hand from a wanted post CRC have halved the price of the frames ๐Ÿ˜ก

I'm looking forward to taking it to some jumps to see how much I have to re-learn from mainly riding FS.

Steel is real!

Very nice....the Pig X is a great frame. It was a Blue Pig X that I bought to replace the PA you bought from me last year ๐Ÿ™‚

It's frightening to think this is frame #4 since then ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I had a lot of fun on that, it's gone onto a mate who is in the process of building it up. Shame Ragley has had so many issues, they seem to have lost a lot of respect from dodgy QC.

The bike looks great ! Please post a few more pics and any further info, good/ bad points. I bought a pig x frame a few months ago from crc and i'm only looking at forks etc now to start the build. I can't wait to get back to a hardtail ๐Ÿ™‚

Recently built a Pig x is the same colour but with a 160mm TALAS fork. In both 130 and 160mm travel mode it is awesome! The ability to drop the seat all the way to the top tube makes it such a play bike. Took it down some seriously steep and rocky mountain paths last weekend in the Black mountains and it excelled. Followed that up with a trip to Cwmcarn and it was so much fun there too. It manuals very readily which gives it a very capable feel and set up as 1x9 there is a ton of BB clearance. The steel and big tyres (it'll run a 2.5) soak up all trail chatter too.

I've just finished cobbling mine together - its still a bit of a parts bin special at the moment and needs a little tidying. Only new bits are the bearings - headset, bottom bracket and the front mech. The tyres are 2.5 dual ply Maxxis and the components are a mix of Deore, XT, SRAM and OEM Specialized bits.
Not ridden properly yet but will do on Wednesday night up in the Lakes.

And yes the front brake cable is waaaaaaaaay too long as it was previously on Lyriks.

My 2p. Take the gubbins off the seat post. Being able to drop the saddle all the way to the top tube is awesome.

Yeah the post came straight off the Pitch I had built up previously and it had a much lower seat collar and more post showing. But the mudguard is a necessary :twisted:evil

I thought this thread just shrivelled up, then saw more posts had been added!

It's been very good fun and I've noticed a few things from the setup:

Nukeproof headsets are rubbish, Hope on the way. Think I'll get a 1.5 lower cup that looks like the standard external with a reducer crown and in internal upper cup.

The steel feels great, much nicer than my Dialled frames but in a subtle way. Comfier, which I think is due to the seat-stay fandangling and high brace. I like the high BB and nippiness of the wheelbase, but yet the slackness has quite a distinct character which feels good. Stable when you need it yet very manoeuvrable.

I'm considering 1x9 as it's climbing pretty well. I figure it won't be much different (keeping it 32t front, cassette is 11-34) and will shed some grammage from the mech, shifter, granny+bolts & stinger.

I think I've gotten used to HT again, my bunny-hopping and mini manuals have improved. Oh, and the front tyre is now a 2.5 WTB Prowler MX which feels pretty good. I'll probably stick the other on the back end, more cushion for the pushin' ๐Ÿ˜‰

I know, I know. Saving weight in one place, only to stick big fat biffers on the rims...
